Specific Information from Hospital Chiriquí: Hospital Chiriquí is one of the larger private hospitals in David with 60 doctors on staff and this will increase to 100 doctors in 2005 when the new addition is completed. Their plan “Medic Service Chiriquí, S.A.” is open to everyone, regardless of age and covers any pre-existing conditions after two years of membership in the Plan. People 54 years and older are required to take laboratory tests prior to joining. A one-time fee of $200.00 is assessed the first time you are hospitalized. Otherwise the plan pays 70% of hospitalization, lab tests, walk-in services or emergencies and X-rays (one per month). Special procedures and routine preventive medicine (vaccinations, annual physical, prostate or mammogram, PAP smear, etc.) are covered to 50%. Any visit with a Doctor or Specialist, at the hospital, is $7.00 for up to 12 visits per year.
